Knitting and Wellbeing Retreat 24-26.11.2025
This course is a gift to yourself – a moment of pause that creates warmth for your hands, body, and mind.
As November sets in and the days get shorter, it's time to stop and treat yourself. Come and spend three unique days on the shore of a beautiful lake, surrounded by the peace of nature, where all the services are at your fingertips – sports facilities, a spa, accommodation and an atmospheric lakeside sauna.
Knitting and Wellbeing Retreat is open to everyone who needs something to do, to refresh themselves and to spend time together during the darkest time of the year. The course combines hands-on activities, gentle exercise, pampering relaxation and the enjoyment of delicious local food – a whole that pampers both mind and body.
Mornings start with light gymnastics in the gym, which gently wakes the body up for the day's activities. During the day, the needles jingle in good company over a cup of coffee, and you can go outdoors in the lake scenery with Nordic walking and nature walks. Evenings are crowned with spa moments and the warmth of the lakeside sauna - in the glow of candles you can calm down, look out over the lake and enjoy yourself.
During the course you will also enjoy: delicious meals made from local ingredients, which bring strength and joy to your days. Good food is part of well-being – and it tastes even better in good company.
During the knitting sessions you will learn new tips and techniques, but just as important is the warm togetherness and conversation – a relaxed atmosphere that is often missed in everyday life. The course is suitable for both experienced craft lovers and beginners who want to learn the basics of knitting in a safe and encouraging environment.
During the retreat, participants will knit a scarf, for which they will purchase a knitting package. The package costs €35 and is paid to the instructor on site.
The package includes everything you need to knit a scarf, including yarn, needles and a stitch marker. The yarn is merino silk, but there are also other options. You don't need to bring your own equipment.
Meet the instructors!
Working as knitting instructors Riikka Denby-Pettersson ja Heli Hamalainen.

Heli and Riikka are long-time craftsmen, for whom a passionate hobby has developed into a profession.
Heli has been the renowned leader of Kuopio Nappi ja Nauhaa for several decades, and Riikka has moved from behind the counter of the yarn shop Riikka-Piika to the handicraft sector as a sales representative. We are not super-masters of knitting, you can't become one in this field when there is always something new to learn and try (- not to mention all the most wonderful yarns in the world), but we are eager learners and creators. So come join the Knitting and Well-being Retreat and let's knit a beautiful scarf together from excellent raw materials!
You don't have to be a super expert, knitters of all levels are warmly welcome to knit. I-cord fringed scarf, the size and surface of which, after learning the technique with us, you can even knit for a friend as a Christmas gift!
